For me, photography is one of life's constants. No matter how I'm feeling, no matter where I go, no matter who's with me, or what's going on, I'm sure to have my camera by my side to capture the moment. I've always been fascinated by the act of documenting and preserving memories. Time and place remain frozen in a little rectangle that can be stored or shared. When done right, a single image can say it all. It becomes one of life's records and proof you were there; that you lived in that moment. Photography tells my story, although through the years, I went beyond just my story to capture the world in which I live. Photography is my passion and it has become the art that helps define who I am.
Here you will see some of my favorite moments and stories I captured with my camera.
As strange as it might sound for a photographer to say, the Beatles have been a huge influence on my photography… and life in general. Although I was born long after they played their last song together, the music of John, Paul, George, and Ringo has been with me my whole life. When I listen to the Beatles, I am able to visualize the lyrics, and this has inspired me to recreate scenes from some of their songs through photography.
I used to be a bit of a comic book artist before I took up photography. Starting when I was about nine years old, I had this plan that I was going to create the next great superhero. That dream sort of lived on until shortly after high school as I perfected my stories and drawings whenever I had the time...
...Although my comic book dream died when I wanted to dedicate more to photography than drawing, the basic concept of telling a story with pictures lived on. Comics still have a special place in my heart, and I tried to capture that unique subculture in these photos.
While I took the photography route, many of my friends have decided to pursue filmmaking; so as a result, I have had the opportunity to take many behind the scenes photos of movie magic. After briefly studying filmmaking and being part of quite a few independent films (as well as a major production) over the years, I learned a thing or two about what goes into a movie. I enjoy taking behind the scenes photos, and I hope I can one day make a career out of it.
From my grandfathers to my sister and brother-in-law, the Navy has been a huge part of my life. Growing up, I learned a thing or two about the Navy from my grandfathers, but once my sister entered the Naval Academy, I was able to see some of the inner workings of naval life. It’s always a pleasure to be able to attend and get some nice photos from a Navy event. Even though I’ve only witnessed just a small piece of what the Navy does, I can’t help but respect how much effort goes into keeping America safe.
A Day in the Life is probably one of the most vividly written songs by the Beatles. Whenever I listen to it, I imagine the events of the song unfold as moment in time set to music. These photos are a continuation of my original Beatles portfolio. No one photo can represent this song as a whole, so I dedicated a series of photos shot in film to tell this story in pictures.
From the beaches to the communities to the parks and everything in between, New Jersey has a lot to offer. I’ve lived in New Jersey my whole life, and there’s still so much for me to see and do. It never gets old. Check out some of my best photos from my home state. There’s plenty to see.
I consider myself very fortunate to have been born near New York City. It is one of the most popular destinations in the world and yet I am within minutes from the nearest entry point to the city. As such, I often take advantage of any opportunity to go to New York to take pictures. I never get tired of walking the streets for awesome shots of just about anything. Every trip to the city turns into a photography adventure, and you can’t beat that.
One of my life's goals is to be able to see the world. Every trip I take is a new adventure and an opportunity to try new things. Using my cell phone as a guide to help me discover new places and record where I've been, I have made the most out of each trip I have taken. I believe journey equally as important as the destination, as getting there is part of the whole experience. I also believe life itself is the ultimate journey. There is so much to see and many photos to take along the way.
